M. C. Stillions and W. E. Nelson

Theracon, Inc., Topeka, Kansas

Abstract

A metabolism stall for male horses similar to that used for cattle is described. The stall was designed to accommodate animals of various sizes, and to be effective for urine and fecal collections. The stall has been used for continued housing and feeding with the animals remaining in a standing position. Food consumption was maintained and edema prevented by adequate exercise every day.
