Abstract
A growth trial involving 36 steer calves was conducted to evaluate differently processed soybean hulls as complete rations. Soybean hulls were consumed in adequate quantities and produced satisfactory winter gains. In the growth trial, steers gained more rapidly when fed pelleted or pellet-reground hulls than when fed ground hulls. Ruminal volatile fatty acid ratios were similar to those reported from roughage feeds and were not significantly influenced by physical form of hulls fed. Dry matter, fiber and energy were equally digestible in all forms of soybean hulls.
