Abstract
The effect of elevated ambient temperature (32° C.) on rabbit sperm during a 6- to 8-hr, capacitation period in utero was determined by fertilization rate and embryo survival following sperm transfer to test females maintained at 21° C. and mated to vasectomized males 10 hr. prior to sperm deposition. No significant difference was observed in fertilizing capacity between sperm recovered from females at 21° and 32° C. However, there was a significant reduction in preimplantation embryo survival as a result of uterine environment on sperm due to elevated ambient temperature.
