Abstract
Two N balance studies were conducted with growing Yorkshire barrows (50 kg.) to evaluate the efficacy of isonitrogenous, isocaloric barley-skimmilk-meat scraps and corn-soybean meal rations in promoting N retention. The 0.979, 0.979, and 0.932 gm. N retained/kg. W 0.734 kg. daily on the corn ration was significantly greater than the 0.843, 0.853, and 0.745 gm. N retained on the barley ration. The results of this study do not support the contention that superior carcasses obtained on barley-skimmilk type rations are due to a superior amino acid content.
