Use of Pelleted Roughage in the Feeding Regime for Breeding Sheep

Ivan L. Lindahl and C. E. Terrill1

United States Department of Agriculture

Abstract

Feeding trials with growing ewe and ram lambs and with pregnant ewes indicated that pelleting of roughage can result in marked increases in the feeding values of the roughage. The results also indicate that substantial reductions can be made in the amount of feed required to winter breeding sheep by pelleting the roughage.
