Number of Paired Observations Needed for Estimating Repeatability and Heritability from Regression Analyses

Abstract

A formula, developed earlier, for estimating the number of paired observations needed when estimating repeatability or heritability by a regression analysis, is used for presenting tables for the simple one-class situation. These tables are shown to be directly adaptable to within-class analyses through using a multiplication factor dependent on the average number of animals per class.
