Abstract
Plastic beads implanted in the ovine uterus on the third day post-estrus shortened the interval to next estrus or ovulation to 5 to 8
days in two of nine ewes (7 mm. beads) and three of six ewes (7+11 mm. beads). Immediate cycles were of normal length (15 to 18 days) in IS ewes which received 7 mm. beads on the eighth day postestrus. Five of 12 estrual cycles subsequently observed on the ewes treated at day-3 were shortened, as were six of 17 cycles subsequently observed on the animals treated on day-8. Ovulation without estrus was detected in two of 24 ewes treated.
