University of Missouri, United States Departments of Interior and Agriculture Cooperating

Abstract

Conclusions:

  1. Artificial insemination seems to have a practical application to range cattle production as shown by an approximate 80 percent calf crop secured by these methods as compared to about 40 to 65 percent calf crop secured under natural breeding conditions.
  2. Artificial insemination made it possible to keep records on each cow so that non-breeders could be recognized and discarded.
