Abstract

Semen collected from a Lincoln ram at the U. S. Sheep Experiment Station, Dubois, Idaho, was sent by air and railway express to Moscow, Idaho. The time in transit varied from 22 to 50.5 hours (a distance of about 700 miles). Six shipments were made during October, 1936, from which sixteen Lincoln ewes were inseminated one or more times. Ewes were inseminated at various times during estrus with 0.2 cc. of undiluted semen introduced directly into the cervix. Three ewes became pregnant and produced four healthy lambs. The semen used was below average in quality as indicated by concentration, motUity and duration of viability of the spermatozoa.
