Abstract
RANGE SHEEPMEN MUST KNOW QUALITY PRODUCTS
The efficient production of wool and mutton requires a definite knowledge of the ranges of quality in the product before any improvement can be made through breeding and management. Nowadays when wool is receiving increasing and severe competition from artificial and natural textile fibers, range sheepmen are constantly reminded that they must KNOW and RAISE a higher quality of product in order to pay expenses, obtain a fair living and some interest on the money invested in their business.
KNOWLEDGE OF MUTTON AND OF WOOL
The range sheepman can readily learn to know the quality of lambs in so far as mutton conformation and thriftiness are concerned, but he generally knows little about and finds it very difficult to obtain information concerning the qualities of wool. Woolis a much more complex product to deal with than mutton conformation, and the wool grower has had little access to unbiased information.
