Adjustments Which a Land Utilization Program May Bring in Dairy Production

Abstract

To speak on the subject assigned me reminds me of the old adage, "Fools step in where angels fear to tread." I hesitate to set myself up as a forecaster of what the future may hold for us in any given field. We have before us the several predictions of leading forecasters in 1928 who then freely predicted that prosperity was only just begun and that we had learned to combat and overcome depressions successfully.

Since that time the world has been full of predicters and forecasters telling us what we can expect the future will be in everything from peanuts to world social and economic problems. Such an array of these men and their advice has been before us for the past several years, yet we know the world has continued to go through one of the greatest convulsions in its history. Knowing what has caused our troubles and suggesting solutions, may have been of great value as entertainment to us while the world show of social and political change has been in progress, but I doubt if the combined ideas of these men have had much influence so far in the solution of the problems.
