Ohio Experiment Station
Abstract
A protein supplement made by mixing equal parts of linseed meal, cottonseed meal, and dry rendered tankage gave excellent results in a test conducted this past year at the Ohio Experiment Station.
Several experiment stations, including the Ohio Station, have shown that there is increased efficiency in a mixture of the vegetable proteins for fattening cattle when compared with either of the components used alone.
Tankage has long been considered as a comparatively cheap source of protein, though its use has been chiefly confined to hogs and poultry. With the development of dry rendering equipment, and the increasing amount of dry rendered tankage available, the question arose as to the possibilities of using it in cattle rations.
