Fattening Cattle of Different Market Grades

Abstract

Conclusion: In each of the two trials conducted the profit from the fattening enterprise increased as the grade of feeder animal was lowered. This was due to two causes:

  1. As the grade of feeder animal was lowered, the feed requirement to make a pound of gain was also lowered.
  2. As the grade of feeder animal was lowered the margin of selling price over cost price increased.
