Abstract
Dr. H. P. Armsby
Dr. H. P. Armsby was a pure scientist, author of the text book, "Principles of Animal Nutrition", which gives to students a profound impression of the intricacies of digestion and assimilation. Dr. Armsby was a most quiet, lovable man, accurate in every detail of daily life.
His development of the respiration calorimeter, making it possible to differentiate the various methods by which energy is used, revolutionized the older methods of determining the value of rations. His insistence on accuracy and elimination of sources of error in experimental work has permeated the entire field of animal research.
Dr. S. M. Babcock
Dr. S. M. Babcock was an agricultural chemist whose discovery of the Babcock test based upon physics as well as chemistry, is the greatest contribution to the dairy industry. Through its simplicity and accuracy it has done more to make possible the improvement of dairy herds on the basis of production than all other discoveries relating to the industry. His refusal to profit personally from this discovery is an outstanding example to all true scientists.
