Southern Activities of the Society

D. W. Williams, Southern Vice-President

Abstract

Many of the Southern members of the American Society of Animal Production assemble each year in connection with the meeting of the Southern Agricultural Workers Association.

The meeting this year was held at Atlanta, Georgia, during the first week in February.

Group meetings of the Southern members as such have never been held. Meetings in the South have in reality been meetings of the livestock section of the Southern Workers Association. There has been no need for separate meetings. Those eligible in one group are also eligible in the other.

The most outstanding activity of general interest which occurred this year was the group meeting called by E. W. Sheets of the United States Department of Agriculture. This meeting was called on February 2nd and 3rd, to consider a program for securing and disseminating facts necessary to encourage livestock production in a balanced agriculture for the South. Eleven states and the United States Department of Agriculture were represented at the meeting.
