Southern Activities of the Society

M. Jacob

Abstract

The Southern meeting of the American Society of Animal Production was held in connection with the annual meeting of the Association of Southern Agricultural Workers on February 5, 6 and 7, at Jackson, Mississippi.

While the attendance at the meetings was not large, the enthusiasm of those present was a compensating factor. The program included sixteen papers on problems dealing with livestock production and livestock extension work under southern conditions.

One of the important things brought about during this meeting was the appointment of a committee for the purpose of developing a livestock program for the South, especially for the area which is being freed of southern cattle fever ticks. The committee appointed, which will probably confer and report during the annual meeting to be held in Atlanta, Georgia, during the early part of February, 1931, is made up as follows:

E. H. Hostetler, North Carolina.

M. Jacob, Tennessee.

D. S. Buchanan, Texas.

L. P. Gabbard, Texas.

W. L. Blizzard, Oklahoma.
