Western Activities of the Society

E. L. Potter

Abstract

The 1929 western meeting of the American Society of Animal Production was held at the United States Range Experiment Station, Miles City, Montana, August 19 to 23. The meeting was held and the men boarded and housed at the experiment station, two miles from Miles City. The total registered attendance was 86. These were all men who had come for this particular purpose since there was nothing else at Miles City or in the vicinity to attract visitors at that time. Also, the entire time of those in attendance was spent upon livestock matters. All of the 17 range States were represented, and all but five of these were represented by two or more men. The programs were all informal and much time was given to discussion. Among the topics to which special sessions were devoted were the following: Methods of animal husbandry investigation, ranch management studies, chopping and grinding hay, grading range cattle, and a study of the forage grasses of the Miles City region.
