Abstract
Your chairman feels that there has been much progress made in the work of the committee this year. The principal problem has been to collect and brief the available data on the effects of environmental conditions upon production and of health of farm livestock. The heat production, carbon dioxide and moisture production factors have been studied. Mr. Kriss, as a member of this committee, has worked up some important data which is not quite complete but which he hopes to complete in a short time. The committee can well afford to wait for this contribution.
The first step of progress in research work is to review the problem, and learn the factors involved. In the effort to increase production, farm livestock have been induced to produce under unnatural conditions. This holds true for the hen as well as the cow. If the hen followed her natural instincts she would lay but few eggs during the winter months.
