Progress Report of Committee on Methods of Instruction

A General Survey of Animal Husbandry Instruction

Abstract

It was the understanding of this committee that its first duty was to make a general survey of instruction in animal husbandry as offered today by various institutions in the United States. It was first thought this might be done by the questionnaire method but it soon became apparent that this method would not be satisfactory. The committee then resorted to a study of last year's catalog of each land grant college. A chart was prepared showing:

  1. The hours required for graduation.
  2. Specified hours in agriculture required for graduation.
  3. Percent of total hours represented by specified required hours in agriculture.
  4. Specified hours in animal husbandry required for graduation.
  5. Percent of total hours represented by specified required hours in animal husbandry.
  6. Specified required hours in non-agricultural subjects.
  7. Percent of total hours represented by the hours of special required non-agricultural subjects. 8. The number of hours of the more important non-agricultural subjects required.
