Report of Special Committee on Classification of Fat Sheep at the International

Abstract

In order that this committee might have some basis for a report letters were sent to the exhibitors of fat sheep at the 1926 International. Two specific questions were asked these exhibitors:

In reply to our first question: "Do you favor the elimination of the yearling wether classes?" 15 answered "no" and 7 answered "yes." The committee, therefore, wishes to make no recommendation concerning the elimination of the yearling wether classes.

In reply to our second question: "Should more than three cash prizes be awarded in each class? If so, how many?", the answer in almost every instance was "yes." The most common number suggested was five, the range varying from three to ten. It seems to be the general opinion that it would be more desirable to increase the number of prizes in the lamb classes than it would to increase those in the yearling classes. The committee, therefore, recommends that:
