Methods in Feeding Experiments

George Haines

Office of Experiment Stations

Abstract

Methods of conducting feeding experiments were criticized in 1908 by a committee of the American Society of Animal Nutrition composed of H. P. Armsby, H. J. Waters, J. H. Skinner, and H. R. Smith. Since this report was written there has developed a very large and highly credible amount of investigation directed primarily at the theory and practice of animal nutrition. It has made important contributions to the knowledge of the principles of nutrition, the constituents and special properties of various feeding stuffs and the presence and importance of feed accessories, minerals and the like, which probably has marked more advance in the scientific aspects and understanding of the subject than has been made in any similar period before.
