The Inheritance of Fat Content of Milk in Dairy Cattle

W. L. Gaines

University of Illinois

Abstract

Conclusions: With respect to the inheritance of percentage fat content of milk, F1 varies about a mean, which is the average of the parent types, with a distribution corresponding closely to a normal probability curve.

Data for 19 F2s suggest the possibility of segregation, but are inadequate from which to postulate as to the number of factors involved.
