Membership of Livestock Extension Men

Abstract

Heretofore animal husbandry extension men have felt rather excluded from membership in the Society which according to its constitution considers "all persons engaged in investigation or instruction in animal production in the United States and Canada .... eligible to membership." The interpretation of this clause is and should be a broad one. Livestock extension work has developed tremendously since the constitution was last revised. Brought up to date, the constitution will have to have a specific provision for membership of extension men, for it is recognized that extension workers play a most important part in animal production and are very welcome at the annual meetings and on the program of the Society.

The Executive Committee of the Society, represented by the President and the Secretary, met with the Program Committee of the Livestock Specialists at Urbana on May 31st, 1921, at which conference the need of a close relationship of the two bodies was strongly felt.
