The Armsby-Shepperd Dinner

Abstract

While expressing its sense of bereavement and respect in an inadequate way, the Society was nevertheless genuinely sincere in its desire to pay tribute to the work and memory of the late Dr. Henry Prentiss Armsby of the Institute of Animal Nutrition of Pennsylvania State College. Dr. Armsby was one of the founders of the American Society of Animal Production. It had been planned, as voted at the previous meeting, to have Dr. Armsby present as our guest of honor at this event. Death, however, terminated this eminently useful life a few weeks previous to this meeting. Since the purpose of the proposed event was to honor Dr. Armsby for his highly important contribution to the science of animal nutrition, it was held entirely proper to proceed as planned, with the exception that this occasion of recognition was now conducted more in the nature of a memorial event.

The occasion of recognition was a dinner at the Saddle and Sirloin Club, which dinner was sponsored jointly by the Society and members of the intercollegiate livestock judging teams of past and present International Livestock Shows.
