Abstract
The substitution of cottonseed meal for other protein supplementsin the ration of dairy cows caused, on the average, a slighttemporary increase in the fat content of the milk. The animalsdid not give uniform results, however, and the full effectswere not noted until a few days after administration started.
The substitution of cottonseed meal for corn produced a markedtemporary increase in the fat content of the milk though thefull effects were not noted until a few days after the workstarted. The animal showed a fairly uniform reaction.
Thefeeding of cottonseed meal for a second period, separatedfromthe first period by a few days only, depressed rather thanincreasedthe fat content of the milk.
Some cows will be put off feedby even small quantities of cottonseedmeal.
