Abstract
Your committee, appointed to consider the matter of affiliation with societies working in related lines, beg leave to submit the following report:
In the judgment of your committee, the following plan, proposed by the Society for the Promotion of Agricultural Science, commends itself as a basis at least to depart from, viz.:
- Each society shall retain its individual organization, and shall have entire control of its own business, including election of members and pnblication of proceedings. They may, however, find it desirable to affiliate in the employment of a common secretary and the publication of their reports.
- There shall be a council composed of one or more representatives from each affiliated society which may elect an executive committee from among its own members.
- The affiliated societies will hold affiliated meetings on alternate years at the same place, and at nearly the same time as the meeting of the A. A. A. C. and E. S., and for such meeting the council shall prepare a general program in which papers of general interest shall be presented to the joint meetings of the societies, while other papers shall be referred to the affiliated society to which it will be of the greatest interest.
