Committee on Methods of Reporting Results of Feeding Experiments

F. B. Mumford, H. R. Smith and D. H. Otis

Abstract

Your committee on Methods of Reporting the Results of Investigations in Aninial Nutrition submit the following report:

The purpose of all publications is to bring to the attention of the public the results secured from the investigations conducted by the experiment stations. This purpose cannot be accomplished unless the character of the publications is such as to meet with the approval of the persons best equipped to determine whether or not the publication succeeds in bringing clearly before the reader the purpose, plan and results of the investigation. Most of the bulletins which have been pnblished on Animal Nutrition have apparently been written with a view to reaching at least two classes of readers; the scientific investigator and the farmer. As a result of this effort to combine scientific accuracy and minuteness of detail with a popular statement of results, the publications in many cases have not successfully fulfilled either purpose.
