Abstract
Twelve pigs farrowed by three related sows and sired by a single boar were divided into two groups and fed individually during the growing-fattening period. One group received a conventional ration and the other a ration containing 50% alfalfa. The results indicate that at this level 1 lb. of alfalfa will replace 0.5 lb. of grain and supplement. It was also observed that the pigs receiving 50% alfalfa had a lower dressing percent, lower proportion of fat cuts and a higher percentage of lean and lean cuts.
