Abstract

Conclusions: The results of this study show that when the digestibility of the dry matter of forages consumed by grazing sheep and cattle is determined by the use of formulae developed by Reid et al. (1952) for chromogen, and by Lancaster (1949) for nitrogen, there is no diurnal variation in the estimates of digestibility.

Moreover, the fecal-nitrogen method appears to give as good an indication of dry matter digestibility as the chromogen method.
