Abstract
Three trials were conducted in which thyroprotein was fed to lactating ewes and the effect on the rate of gain of the nursing lambs studied. In all trials the feeding of thyroprotein to lactating ewes failed to increase the growth rate of the nursing lambs significantly. Greater loss of body weight during the feeding period occurred among the ewes receiving thyroprotein. Preventing the lambs from eating feed containing thyroprotein at the time the ewes are fed is a problem that limits its application.
