Abstract
Fattening lambs treated with subcutaneous implantations of either 6 or 12 mg. of stilbestrol gained significantly faster than the control group and were more efficient in feed utilization.
Carcass yield and grade were consistently lower among the treated lambs.
There was little difference in rate of gain, feed efficiency, feed consumption or carcass grade and yield between the lambs treated with 6 mg. of stilbestrol and those treated with 12 mg. of stilbestrol.
1 Approved for publication by the Director of the South Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station as Paper No. 306 of Journal Series.
2 Acknowledgment is made to Wick and Frye and Co. for furnishing the stilbestrol used in these experiments.
