Raising Baby Pigs on Dried Skim Milk: Effect of the Addition of Aureomycin and of Lard1

Harold E. Schendel and B. Connor Johnson

University of Illinois

Abstract

When supplemented with vitamins A, D, E, and K, as well as the minerals iron, copper and manganese, the baby pig is able to gain "normally" on a skim milk diet. As would be expected the presence of 30 percent fat markedly improved the feed efficiency ratios due to its much higher energy content per gram.
